Basic rules (Labour Law art. 41)
- Normal weekly working time is at most 45 hours.
- Every hour over 45 is overtime; the hourly wage is paid with a 50% increase (1.5 times).
- If the weekly time in the contract is below 45 hours, work between the contract time and 45 hours is 'work with extra hours'; the hourly wage is paid with a 25% increase (1.25 times).
- Overtime cannot exceed 270 hours a year and requires the employee's written consent.
- Instead of pay, the employee may choose to use 1.5 hours of free time for each hour of overtime.
Overtime pay formula
Hourly wage = Monthly gross salary ÷ 225
Overtime pay = Hourly wage × 1.5 × Overtime hours
225 is the monthly working hours used on the basis of 30 days a month and 45 hours a week.
Example calculation
For an employee with a monthly gross salary of 45,000 TRY who works 10 hours of overtime in the month: hourly wage 45,000 ÷ 225 = 200 TRY; overtime pay 200 × 1.5 × 10 = 3,000 TRY gross.

Determining overtime hours correctly
The accuracy of the calculation depends on the hours worked being recorded correctly. PDKS takes check-in and check-out automatically from the BLE readers at the door, separates the time after the end of the shift and shows overtime hours separately in the timesheet output.
